Michael Ruggiero is an independent Made in Italy fashion brand distinguished by a zero-waste design approach. Through the development of the “Experimental Off-Centre Tailoring Method”, the collections investigate innovative ways of constructing garments, rethinking the relationship between form, material, and body.
The core of the project is an ongoing exploration of pattern-making systems, where each garment emerges from a research-driven process rather than predefined shapes. The work spans both womenswear and menswear, approaching the wardrobe as a unified system of construction. The use of the fabric selvedge as a visible element reflects a commitment to material integrity, transforming a technical detail into a structural and aesthetic feature.
The result is a contemporary wardrobe defined by precise constructions and essential lines, where sustainability is an integral part of the design process rather than an added value.
Digital design tools are integrated into the process to optimise resources and minimise physical prototyping. Through Clo3D, garments are developed within a virtual environment, enabling the exploration of form, volume and construction as part of the design process.
